ABSTRACT
As the reader may by now have gleaned, I am by nature an integrationist – a ‘lumper’ rather than a ‘splitter’, a symmetriser rather than an asymmetriser. My project has been to find points of similarity, complementarity, overlap and translation between attachment and psychoanalytic ideas. But the time has now come to confront a topic of possible radical divergence between the two theories: sex and sexuality.
