ABSTRACT
In order to address our general research concern-how can we understand long-term and complex socio-technical transitions?—this chapter describes a multilevel perspective (MLP) on transitions. This perspective has been developed by scholars who have actively sought to bridge STS and evolutionary economics (Rip and Kemp, 1998; Kemp et al., 1998; Schot, 1998; and Geels, 2002a; 2004; 2005a).
