Idealization and psychopathology: Forms of expression of the negative ideal

In developing the recognition and description of the idealization function, the resulting superego image that emerged was a relatively simple one: there were a cluster of negative ideals and a cluster of positive ideals, each functions as a regulator, and the ego had to respond to, bear the demands of, and accept the impress of each.
