ABSTRACT

This chapter provides procedures to determine whether schoolwide problems exist and also decide on appropriate response strategies. Some schools become overwhelmed with students receiving multiple office discipline referrals (ODR). Many problem-solving team members find it useful to compare their ODRs to those of other schools across the country. A good start to forming a behavioral response plan to school-wide issues identified by an examination of ODRs is for the problem-solving team to examine the data. The school-based problem-solving team also reviewed the percentage of school ODR referrals by month to gain an understanding of whether discipline problems were increasing or decreasing over the course of the year.
