ABSTRACT

Assessment lays the groundwork for good counseling. Without a foundation in assessment education, counselors run the risk of misdiagnosing and subsequently mistreating their clients (Laux & Perera-Diltz, 2008). The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP, 2009) recently outlined both general and program-specific guidelines relevant to the knowledge, skills, and practices associated with assessment in counseling.
