ABSTRACT

Mary sat staring at the blank computer screen; her department chair had just left her office not 10 minutes earlier. The chair just proposed to Mary that she teach the DSM class, claiming Mary’s background made her “just perfect” and besides, she just found out that Dr. Smith’s sabbatical application was approved and there was no one else who could teach it. Mary’s breathing quickened … and then she thought, “Where do I begin?” For many neophyte counselor educators, this scene looms in recent memory and is all too familiar.
