ABSTRACT

Our brother Falah Jabr described me in engineering and revolutionary terms. 1 I thank him for his description. Let us begin from this point. I am an engineer on probation and I believe that the patriotic rulers and leaders of the Arabs are all under probation. Our people have learned over many years to prolong the period of probation before granting their confidence in view of the bitter experience of the past. Many colleagues of yours have forgotten, after a spell of time, their basic training. The same thing is true about so many 'political' engineers who lost their characteristics after a period of time along the road of the Arab nation's struggle. The common denominator in both cases is the failure to maintain the conditions for success for the qualification originally acquired.
