ABSTRACT

Binding is benefi cial to both inventory control and the circulation staff responsible for inventory control. Routing and maintenance is reduced. Shelving and any shifting is aided by the binding process. Because our library does not bind incomplete volumes, when circulation fi nds a volume for either the ILL department or a patron, they know the volume is complete. The stability and predictability of bound volume processing accomplishes this. The value of consistent processing is not only key to the usefulness of the content, but also for enabling ease of its use.
