ABSTRACT
A small wooden platform had been erected; it was so very reminiscent of the pre-war election days when Mr Churchill spoke from the same platform to crowded garden parties. Churchill made it clear to the Labour leader that the surrender of Germany and victory in Europe were not, in his opinion, sufficient grounds for dissolving parliament while the war with Japan continued. It seemed logical to Churchill that the existing government should oversee the defeat of Japan, whose surrender could not be long delayed. Churchill recalled the period of the war when island stood alone for a whole year against mighty power that sole obstacle to the rulership of the world. In broad terms the West Essex Division was split into two: a new Epping Division and a new Woodford Division. The dissolution of the West Essex Constituency Association entailed a redistribution of the Associations assets, such as the property in Broomhill Road, Woodford Green.
