Assessment of Tanzania's Food Security Policy and Outlook

In the past Tanzania’s food security policy focused largely on food production, with the emphasis on the production of maize, rice and wheat for the urban market. This essentially complied with the concept of the food strategies formulated by the World Food Council. Various institutional arrangements were made and price policy measures taken in an attempt to increase production for the market in line with the rate of urbanization.
