ABSTRACT

In 1973, Emmanuel Robitaille, Head Servant of La Mission de I'Esprit Saint (MES), announced to members gathered in their Montreal Hall that he had received a warning of the end of the world from his dead father, Gustav, who had appeared to him in a dream. Members of the congregation were advised to store food, diapers and clothing, and to wait for further instructions, but not to return to the Hall or they would “be in Hell.” Meanwhile, the core group began to construct an underground bunker in Oka to prepare for the end of the world in 1975.
