ABSTRACT
The surreal,‘right’ charm of that would not be easy to emulate.Most of us, perhaps, trying out something like it, would turn out doggerel.
Rhyme is tempting partly because in the popular imagination it seems indispensable to a poem. On the other hand, it is easy to encourage children to avoid rhyme,when we know that it is not necessary to a poem, and that it is difficult to rhyme convincingly, so that many rhymes can turn out banal, even silly.
