ABSTRACT
This manual has been written for clinicians working with people with alcohol problems. This may include counsellors, nurses, psychologists, alcohol workers, generic workers and some medical practitioners. The contents are based on previous research in addiction treatment including family and social network interventions as well as our own work developing and evaluating this approach. The manual has been used to train clinicians including those delivering Social Behaviour and Network Therapy in the UK Alcohol Treatment Trial where it was found to be as effective and as cost-effective as Motivational Enhancement Therapy.
