ABSTRACT
The two selected picture books, On That Day (2001) and There’s a Big, Beautiful World Out There! (2001), are discussed here in an attempt to understand how the politics of multiculturalism have been reorganized since 9/11, how ethnicity is
represented in these books and how the implied readers of these texts are positioned. In this section of the chapter some illustrations and excerpts are examined through a variety of theoretical lens.
