ABSTRACT

Child Language Acquistion Children’s pragmatic knowledge has been a relatively unstudied area of first language development, although there has been a welcome explosion of published research in the 2000s (see Krämer 2007 for a recent collection of papers). This discussion first summarizes results in a number of grammatical areas (article use, pronoun interpretation, topic and focus constructions and complementation) and then sketches critical areas for further research and debate.
