ABSTRACT
Kaitlyn Lavender is trying to establish her career as a freelance writer. A native of New Jersey, she graduated with a major in journalism and minor in cinema studies from American University in 2006. She was also active as a student journalist for the American University Eagle and she often shot photographs and wrote for the school’s Talon yearbook in addition to being a member of the cross-country team. A year after graduating from college, she earned an M.A. degree in journalism from the University of Miami. While in her graduate program, she developed her professional abilities by writing freelance for The Miami Herald and Key Biscayne Magazine. She also found time to work as an interim Tropical Life and Entertainment content producer for MiamiHerald.com, and earned a byline for a story on page 1A of The Herald.
