ABSTRACT
FROM the outbreak of war everybody in Palestine had imagined that it would only be a matter of days, or at most weeks, before the British would come and conquer Palestine, if only to assure the safety of the Canal. The Turks, and the Germans too, thought the Allies were preparing to invade the country, and many of their oppressive measures were carried out in haste and panic.
