ABSTRACT

Veera Patel watched the door softly close behind one of her Customer Care Executive managers as he stepped out on to the call center fl oor. Ajit had just told her, with controlled emotion, that he was HIV positive. She knew that as human resources manager, she should follow the company policy: She should immediately report him to the benefi ts center and the chief executive’s offi ce, and enter Ajit’s HIV positive status into his personal fi le. For the moment, however, with no one else in the know, Veera could turn over the problem in her mind and try to fi nd the course of action that would be right for everyone.
