ABSTRACT

In primary schools up to three quarters of bullying is believed to take place in the playground, so LTSs have a crucial role in dealing with this problem. This includes identifying , responding to, reporting and recording incidents of bullying. You can also help children to deal with being bullied, and encourage the aggressor to behave more appropriately. This chapter will start by exploring what constitutes bullying, who is likely to bully or

be bullied, and the devastating effects it can have. The chapter will go on to look at what schools can do in response. There are no easy solutions to this problem, but by reading the chapter you will be clearer about the options available to you.
