Problems of defining stars Not every recognizable actor in a film is a star, not every actor that is promoted by Hollywood or the British film industry becomes a star, and stars are not always the most beautiful or the most talented people in the film. It is these unpredictable elements which make the study of the meaning of stars so interesting.
