ABSTRACT

School staff often approach Education Welfare Officers or Education Social Workers for advice or support concerning children and young people who are finding it difficult to attend school regularly. Individual responses such as counselling or casework (e.g. home visits, or meetings) may be complemented by running a small, focused groupwork project. Children may be more relaxed in such a setting and be prepared to open up and have some fun at the same time.
