ABSTRACT
The Ha Tu Mine has a long history and has been enlarged several times. Owned and operated by the Vietnam National Coal Corporation (Vinacoal) the mine is facing closure in 2015 when it is estimated the existing coal deposits will be exhausted. Situated a few kilometers north of one of Vietnam’s largest tourist sites, Ha Long Bay, the mine has potential to become a tourist attraction.
