ABSTRACT

By 1977, as far as I was concerned there began a series of anniversaries of the Marshall Plan speech. There may have been an anniversary celebration in 1972 after twenty-five years. If so, I was not invited, perhaps too young at 62 years of age. But in 1977 there were two celebrations, in 1982 one, and in 1987 I suspect there will be a number. As each halfdecade rolls around the ranks thin. Survival counts.
