ABSTRACT
The aim of this chapter is to provide an understanding of the changes in the context in which Vietnamese enterprises have operated during Doi moi. It will provide a historical view and general picture of the Vietnamese economy before and during Doi moi to assist in building a fundamental understanding of the impact of economic and socio-political changes at the national level on the transformation of business sectors, because they have directly or indirectly impacted on ER reform at enterprise level.
