ABSTRACT

Jordan is among the countries in the world least well endowed with water resources. Its 4 million inhabitants have to rely on only about 240 m3/capita/year of renewable water resources. This is far below what an arid country requires to satisfy all its water needs, including water for self-sufficient food production in irrigated agriculture. 78 Figure 11 shows the renewable water resources per capita in Jordan compared to other countries of the region.
