ABSTRACT

An individual’s attachment style, manifest through communication in social interaction, refers to the way he or she processes, interprets, and reacts to others’ behavior (Bartholomew, 1990; Scher & Mayseless, 1994). A primary element underlying attachment styles is intimacy/avoidance. That is, individuals who have positive models of others display communication styles that reflect intimacy, whereas individuals having negative models of others exhibit communication styles that reflect avoidance and detachment.
