ABSTRACT

Measurement in the area of listening has mainly focused on listening skills, comprehension, and ability issues. Typically, a test of listening is developed to assess hearing, perceiving, attending, comprehending, remembering, and responding (see Rubin & Roberts, 1994), although no one test assesses all of these components. And skills tests cannot incorporate a selfreport format because there are correct answers to questions based on the stimulus materials that are heard (see Watson & Barker, 1983). However, people can self-report their typical listening style.
