ABSTRACT

Sexual Harassment Proclivity Index (SHPI) authors Shereen Bingham and Brant Burleson (1996) set out to improve upon J. B. Pryor’s (1987) Likelihood of Sexually Harassing Scale (LSH). Pryor’s scale is a “selfreport measure of males’ likelihood of engaging in sexual harassment. The scale asks men to imagine themselves in each of ten situations which present opportunities to sexually exploit attractive women without fear of being caught or punished” (Bingham & Burleson, 1996, p. 309). A main goal of SHPI is to establish a coherent structure for assessing sexual harassment proclivity in men, and thus to offer potential redress to a major organizational/workplace problem.
