ABSTRACT

For nonprofit organizations, the need for labor and money is ever present (West, 2004), and donations of both types are routinely requested. Generally speaking, nonprofit organizations’ first priority tends to be to seek monetary donations because such funds are the most fungible and useful. Requests for volunteering, on the other hand, might be made depending on the organization’s needs and usage of labor. Thus, even though “time is money,” a nonprofit organization may find itself giving greater attention to raising money than to encouraging volunteering.
