ABSTRACT

Complexity research is characterized by plurality in research methodologies (see e.g. Eve et al., 1997; Mittleton-Kelly, 2003). This chapter discusses methodologies and guidelines suitable for researching complexity in public administration. As relatively little has been specifi cally written on research methodologies in public administration, general insights in complexity theory and social science methodology will be drawn upon. Apart from that, methodological insights gained from the research carried out by the authors of this book are built upon.
