ABSTRACT

The moment of birth (Boksa & El-Khodor, 2003) and some few years afterwards are not the only periods that are important for a healthy cognitiveemotional development – even before the moment of birth there are forms of imprinting through the environment that set the stage for a child’s developing a greater or lesser degree of sensitivity. The mother-child symbiosis, extending as it does from the early fetal period through the first years of life, is the most decisive determinant for stable development of the child and has an extraordinary importance, on the one hand, for avoiding developmental disorders as well as psychopathological conditions and, on the other hand, for the nervous system to mature successfully (Cirulli et al., 2003).
