ABSTRACT

In this chapter I will be using the term neoconservative for those supporting a form of free market economics that emerged from the University of Chicago in the 1950s. This economic argument supports choice in education, or in other words, a free market for education. Also, neoconservatives believe in America’s unique role in making the world safe for democracy. Neoconservative educational principles can be found in sections of No Child Left Behind related to school choice, standards, testing, and informed parental school choice.
