ABSTRACT

Twenty-three years ago the Great Patriotic War – the most brutal and fierce of all wars ever experienced by our Motherland – concluded with the glorious victory of the Soviet nation. The war, imposed upon us by a perfidious, treacherous, strong, and experienced enemy, was a severe and awesome test of our nation's entire moral and physical strength, and of the survivability of the economic and political organization of socialist society and the fortress of the Soviet Armed Forces.
