ABSTRACT
What is law? Every society makes and enforces laws that govern the conduct of individuals, businesses and other organisations that function within it.
Businesses that are established in the United Kingdom are subject to UK law. They are also subject to the laws of other countries in which they operate. Businesses of other countries must adhere to UK law when doing business here. The laws of business exist to protect persons (including legal persons such as companies) as well as the public. These laws must be obeyed and followed otherwise there will be legal consequences, for example fines, imprisonment.
