ABSTRACT
It is the pattern-recognising part of the brain and its work is carried out at a more
subconscious level. The ‘video streaming effect’ which is characteristic of the state
of creative flow amounts to a positive feedback loop between the left and right
cerebral hemispheres across the corpus callosum, the bridge of nerve fibres
connecting them. Conscious intention stimulates the release of subconscious
material in the form of associations, memories and their attendant feelings. These
are then consciously recognised (re-cognised, reflected upon again) and the words
chosen to express them.
