Layered characters Authors need to have a sense of their characters ‘in the round’, which is a very bad
lead-in to the idea you’ll find in Figure 23 the Personality Profile. It was the writer
Alan Garner who said that people are like onions because they have layers (and, I
add, they make you cry sometimes). The way the personality profile is set out uses
this idea. If you decide to try it out then drawing/writing on a BIG sheet of paper
will work best.
