ABSTRACT
In this chapter I explore transference and countertransference as phenomena taken to as well as arising in a supervisory discourse, to show how they may be creatively engaged with in the context of professional development and training. This may involve a training body, a trainee therapist (student), and a patient who may be seen through a training organisation's clinic. A student's supervisor will be an experienced professional usually chosen by them, or assigned by the training.
