ABSTRACT
Women, especially, seem to feel that Valentine’s Day is important because it is the one day each year when we can reasonably expect our otherwise reluctant lovers to verbalize their feelings and overtly demonstrate their affection. Of course, the underlying message from the media is that if our lovers do not acknowledge Valentine’s Day, they are, in effect, saying that they do not really care.
