ABSTRACT
Th e play and playground movement is closely linked to the primary subject matter of this book. Play and playgrounds were briefl y addressed in the previous chapter as one of the fundamental foci of the child-saving movement. Here the play and playground movement is discussed in detail, its history, its infl uence on the evolution of play environments, and its eff ects on the play and wellbeing of children.
