ABSTRACT

EARLY ADULTHOOD, GENERALLY REFERRED TO AS THE TIME period betweenlate adolescence and the early 40s, is a time when a majority of individuals experience continued and enhanced growth in many areas such as the sexual, cognitive, emotional, and interpersonal realms. Many young adults are testing out their newfound independence by going to college, securing a job that can support them financially, and moving out on their own. In this chapter, we will explore some issues that tend to highlight this particular time in life and the ways in which social workers can help young adults who face problems.
