ABSTRACT
The pituitary gland has two separate and distinct lobes. The posterior lobe is a reservoir for antidiuretic hormone (ADH) produced in the hypothalamus and it produces oxytocin. The anterior lobe produces the six hormones responsible for regulating most of the major functions of the endocrine system by negative feedback with the other glands.
