ABSTRACT
Schools and pre-schools can be islands of stability for children in temporary accommodation who have little routine or consistency in their lives. They can provide time out from family problems. The children and their parents will often have additional needs; it is helpful for education staff to understand the challenges and barriers to education faced by this group.
