ABSTRACT
In this concluding chapter we revisit the questions of why a synthesis of research is important, how our research contributes to an understanding of fragility and the implications our research has for theory and policy. The chapter is in four sections. First we examine the key contributions this research has made. In the second section we briefly summarize the purpose and key findings of each chapter. In the third and fourth sections we conclude with, respectively, directions for future research and policy implications.
