ABSTRACT
Three important patterns characterized the world of women's work at the end of the twentieth century: first, many more women held jobs than in the past; second, women worked in a much greater variety of occupations; and third, despite the new opportunities, most women continued to hold the kinds of jobs traditionally associated with female employment.
