ABSTRACT

In this second section we listen to and record the voices and stories of some of the educational professionals who work full-or part-time in classrooms (Chapter 7, teaching assistants), and inside and outside primary classrooms (Chapter 8, mentors). Chapter 9 provides an example of how one primary school organises and runs its own pastoral support team. Chapter 10 includes the views of six educational professionals who are employed either directly or, in the cases of Jennifer and Stasia, indirectly by the local authority (LA) to support learning in school. Chapter 11 then provides a LA case study of multi-agency working for schools. Chapters 12 and 13 look at the work and views of workers who are in public services, such as the police and fire services, and then charity, private consultants and volunteer workers.
