ABSTRACT
Child abuse is not a relatively new phenomenon. As we look back on the treatment of children throughout history, there have always been adults and parents who have been protective of children and those who have been abusive. Abuse can take many forms and can occur within many settings, including the home environment, institutions, and various education settings. With the advances in modern technology, children and young people can even be abused electronically via text messaging, internet and social networking sites.
