ABSTRACT

Runner: As we have said often throughout the conference, trying to pigeonhole our presenters’ dissertations with methodological labels has been a little crazy and we have done so only to help readers of the transcript have an idea what general direction the dissertations took for the sake of easier referencing. Our next presenter’s dissertation is an example of how difficult it is to do this labeling. Although her dissertation was not ethnographic or biographical per se, we felt that in essence it was very much a product of her lived experience. Carol used her dissertation journey to realize her desire and need to be heard. Not just to be heard, however, but to be heard in a voice, language, dialogue, and experience that was authentic to her.
