ABSTRACT

The chapter also includes additional versions of graphs and another way to identify outliers.

z-Tests z-Tests allow researchers to compare a given statistic with the population mean for that statistic to see how common that statistic is within the population. In addition, they allow us to find out how likely the person, or sample of people, is to have come from a population which has a particular mean and standard deviation. A z-test can be used to test the statistical significance of a wide range of summary statistics, including the size of a single score, the size of a mean or the size of the difference between two means. In this chapter I will keep the examples to looking at a total for an individual participant or a mean which has come from one sample or a proportion which has come from one sample.
