ABSTRACT
We have all been influenced by the Hollywood teacher. He strolls into unpromising classrooms, he is excitingly dressed, his unruly adolescents (abandoned by all the other teachers) show him some grudging regard, perhaps because he wears an earring and may be about to swear. Within hours he is their champion and they are living new and productive lives, forming choirs and competitionwinning hip-hop dance troupes.
