ABSTRACT

Introduction As a student in an accredited health care course you are more and more likely to find that some component of your study is offered online. The reasons for this range from providing place and time flexibility for students with multiple commitments, through using the technology for information sharing and communications which is preferred by an ever increasing segment of the population, to dealing with human and physical resource issues within teaching institutions. While we all use electronic communications in some form or another, many of us have not used it to learn in an accredited course. That can raise some questions. How can learning online substitute for a classroom? What are students expected to do when a subject is offered online? Are there successful strategies for learning online? Is there anybody or anything out there to support the student?
